Posted: March 24, 2010 in bikes

One of the cheapest, strongest and hard working bikes I ever owned. This was when I first converted it.

    Looking good.

Worryingly I was planning on using a Brooks saddle and Ritchey post too!

I still see the bike almost every day so it’s still going strong, the guy goes down my street on it. It does have flat bars on now though and no Brooks.

You’ll have to tell me what you end up with.

I’ve just got to wait for Rutland cycles to sort out their mess then the order will be in. More than likely Monday.

I’m well aware that i’m going to be asking the impossible of this bike.

It’s primary use will be commuting along muddy/tarmac cycle-tracks, something it looks ideal for.

However, with a few quick part changes I want something that can keep up on a road club run. I can normally just about keep up on a heavy steel single speed bike so hopefully just fitting taller gearing and thin tyres will be enough, we’ll see!

(I can’t imagine the guys on the bling carbon bikes are going to be too pleased to have a £200 hybrid nipping at their back wheel.)

    Nearly forgot.

At 5′-9″ i’ve decided to go for the 18″.

The 16″ would fit with a LOT of seatpost showing and a long stem but with flat bars the 18″ would be a better fit.

My Unit is a 16″ (Same geometry) and try as I might I can’t get a rack to fit. The frames just too compact.

    Congratulations!!

The one in the pics is a 16 and I wish it’d have been an 18. I’m the same height as you , hence the 2ft of post showing!!

I don’t think you can go too far wrong at the price you,ve got it for. Keep the pics coming on your blog!
